Chateau Crabitey

Located near Portets in the northern part of Graves and close to the southern limit of Pessac-Leognan, you’ll find Chateau Crabitey.

This former abbey sits on a hill of deep gravel from the Garonne river.

Since taking over from his father in 1999 Arnaud de Butler has invested considerably, addressing quality and sustainable practices in the vineyard and building a modern winery. The first vintages he produced were revelations, winning one award after another. It is now considered one of the flagship estates of the Graves appellation renaissance and has won multiple awards and accolades.

Building on the work that has already been achieved, he now concentrates on the quality of grapes. He focuses a key part of his attention on vineyard practices: ploughing, shoot-thinning, green harvesting and integrated farming. With the construction of a new winery in 2001 the estate went to another level again.
