Product Description

AOC Fronton is a small region north of Toulouse - click here to see on a  map.  Négrette is an indigenous grape variety producing juicy but elegant wines. Anne-Marie & Pierre Selle have become renown for the quality and consistency of their wines.

One of the leading producers in the region. Rated a mention in a feature article in Washington Post regarding the best wines of South-West France.

Terroir: All 20 ha of the estate are planted on the 3rd terrasse of the Tarn river, on gravelly soils. This is quite unique in the appellation Fronton and makes the distinction of Château Bouissel.

Grapes: 50% Négrette, 25% Shiraz and 25%

Wine making: Long maceration (18 days). Fermentation and maceration with micro-oxygenation.12 month ageing period in stainless steel tanks (and 10% in oak barrels)

Our tasting notes: Nice and intense ruby color with purple tints. Intense aromas of black fruits, of spices (liquorice and pepper) and of flowers. This wine is both powerful and harmonious. The first taste is velvety, the mouthfeel is ample and rich and the finish is long with great balance. Lovely savoury clean finish.

Alcohol: 13.5%

Single bottles, multiple bottles or complete boxes (12 bottles) may be ordered.

This wine won the trophy for the Best Red Wine (under 15 pounds) in the Decanter World Wine Awards in July 2015. "Fresh and warm, with well-judged oak bringing a little spiciness to the table, complementing earthy, smoky aromas of black cherry, herbs and liquorice. Vivid, ample, stylish and articulate, this displays lovely balance, reams of deep, juicy fruit, and a characterful, dusty finish. A simply stunning illustration of Fronton."

Awarded 91 points in the Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine article on South West France (blind tasting - April/May 2016 issue).
