Product Description
Château Greysac is a Cru Bourgeois producer in the Médoc and was recently purchased by Jean Guyon, owner of Château Rollan de By.
Through this acquisition Domaines Rollan de By becomes one of the most important properties of the Medoc, both for the quality of its wines and its size - altogether 200 hectares of exceptional terroir of clay and gravelly soils around the village of By. Distributed in over 50 countries, their wines are also often selected by airlines for their customers, especially in Business Class.
Region / Terroir: Médoc.
Grapes : 65% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc.
Soil: Quaternery gravel and clay.
Alcohol: 12.5% VOL
Wine making: The vines have an average age of 20 years. Grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel temperature controlled vats over 3 months with lees batonnage. The wine is aged for 18 months in new oak barrels.
Cellaring potential: Drink 2014-2020 or possibly later. Drinking beautifully now (last tasted August 2018)
Tasting notes : Gilbert and Gaillard summed it up nicely: “Fairly deep garnet-red. Distinctive fruity, spicy and vegetal nose. Round, robust and tasty palate revealing more of the nose aromatics. Structure and freshness on the finish. A good wine that will appeal to lovers of classic Médoc. ”
