Product Description

 Discover Producteurs Plaimont

Producteurs Plaimont is a co-operative in the village of Saint-Mont in the Adour Valley, south-west France. Vineyards in the region date back to the Romans and through to the Middle Ages when monks were making wines for pilgrims on the route to Santiago de Compostella.

In modern times the wine-producing heritage of this area has been reinvigorated under the leadership of the visionary (and beret-wearing) Andre Dubosc. Plaimont was founded in 1979 when he brought together a group of like-minded winegrowers, with a quality-focused approach.

Innovation together with respect for tradition has seen the cooperative invest in modern winemaking techniques, lead a revival of ancient regional varieties, assist growers to improve viticultural practices, embrace sustainable and chemical free systems.

Improved grape quality has yielded vivacious wines showcasing the delicious flavours of the region.

To introduce the Australian wine consumer to these unique wines, made from unusual grape varieties by one France’s top wineries, DiscoverVin wines has put together a special Producteurs Plaimont Package containing:

2 bottles Collection Plaimont St Mont 2012

Rich but soft red from an ancient terroir that has been producing wine since the middle ages. Made with indigenous grapes Tannat and Pinenc and some Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a modern clean wine with great authenticity and character.  Matches meat dishes but also gently spicy dishes.

2 bottles Collection Plaimont Madiran 2012

The Madiran Appellation is situated at the foot of the Pyrenean mountains.  This region has a reputation of producing quality wines since the 11th Century when the Benedictine Monks first produced it.  Tannat, a local, indigenous grape variety which is responsible for Madiran's distinctive identity, is undeniably, King of the grape varieties. This is a rich red wine and a perfect match with slow food.

1 bottle Monastère De Saint Mont, Rouge 2010

In a beautiful festive bottle we bring you this fabulous red wine which is now hitting its straps. It has integrated fruit and tannins and is wonderfully layered and complex. We are very pleased to have an allocation of this wine to bring to wine-lovers in Australia.

1 bottle Collection Plaimont Pacherenc du-Vic-Bilh 2014 (500ml)*

A late harvest wine which, whilst sweet, is not cloying.  It has some lovely spicey notes and a dryish finish.  Earlier vintages of this wine have been much loved when presented at French festivals in Australia. French people love this style of wine with cheeses, pâté and charcuterie.  However our customers in Australia love this wine with Christmas pudding or just on its own!

*If sweet wines aren't to your taste we are happy to swap it out for an extra bottle of the Collection Plaimont St Mont or Collection Plaimont Madiran - just make a note in the "Message" field when you go through the checkout.

Total value of the Plaimont 6 pack is $248.30.  Order now for only $239
