Product Description
Domaine Roche-Audran has been following biodynamic practices since 2006. It is situated on 3 seperate sites on the Cotes du Rhone and uses vines between 35 and 100 years old. Vincent Rochette has developed a growing reputation for producing quality wines of character.
2015 was a great vintage. The good weather conditions (normal level of rainfall, followed by a dry and hot summer), meant the grapes came to maturity in good condition. Hand picking was spread over several weeks, and fermentations took place slowly and calmly, which resulted in wines very rich, well balanced and very complex.
Region/Terroir: AOC Côtes du Rhône
Grapes: 70% Grenache, 15% Carignan, 15% Syrah
Soil: Based on a hill side, on north-east/north-west aspect, which helps keep the site cool. The soil is clayey and chalky.
Alcohol: 14% VOL
Wine making: Hand picked, selected bunches are de-stemmed and 30 days maceration with natural yeast for the fermentation.
Aged in concrete tanks for 6 months.
Cellaring potential: Can age for 2-3 years, but delicious now.
Our Tasting notes:
Deep black colour.
The nose is intense, with black fruit and spicy aromas. The tannins are silky and rounded on the palate. The fruitb is quite luscious revealing notes of raspberries and blackcurrnats. Clean, fresh and delicious to drink.
Food match: Enjoy this wine with meat dishes like braised beef with carrots, Navarin lamb or chicken stews, pizza or a bbq!
This wine is only recently released and hasn't been reviewed as yet.

"What a bargain this is: seriously good certified biodynamic Cotes du Rhone from a respected producer for under $30 a bottle. Made from a blend of grenache, carignan and syrah grown at Buisson, near Vaison la Romaine, by Vincent Rochette, this is wild-fermented and then spends six months in concrete tanks before bottling. The combination of red fruits, brambly characters and savoury notes makes it extremely food friendly. Take the beautiful balance, length and sheer drinkability and you have a wine of style and poise"
