A very nice example of the good value wines that can be found in Bordeaux. Chateau de Fontenille is producing consistently good wines. Drinking well now and has won many accolades.
Product Description
Region/Terroir: AOC Bordeaux.
Grapes: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Average age of vines 20 years.
Alcohol: 13.5% VOL
Winemaking techniques: The aim is to produce a fruity style but with good tannins and structure. 72 hours of skin maceration under cold temperature occurs followed by a temperature controlled ferment at 25°C. The wine is aged for 18 months, 50% on oak (1/3 new oak) and 50% in vats, then blended.
When to drink: Enjoy from 2015 - 2020
Our tasting notes: A very pleasant ruby colour. Elegant and round on the palate with fine tannins. Red fruits, plums and some aniseed and chocolatey notes. Well structured and medium bodied, this is a good example of the good-value wines of Bordeaux.
"Wow that's drinkable. Nice! A real surprise with its complexity but it's not too heavy. Could go with fish or white meats" Jenny from Sydney.
It goes well with grilled meat, stews, poultry and some cheeses.
Single bottles, multiple bottles or complete boxes (6 bottles) may be ordered.
