See below for more details.
We have some events coming up next month:
If you are in Brisbane, come along to Chalk and Cheese, 29 Florence Street in Teneriffe this Friday between 5 and 7pm to taste some affordable French!
And if you are in Melbourne get set for
Paris to Provence at Como House November 22-24th. Come along for a glass of wine at the DiscoverVin stand. We would love to see you there.
Get set for Spring/Summer - rosé pre-arrival offerAs the weather warms up so do the rosé sales take off. Pictured above is the fabulous
Domaine de la Croix Irrésistible Rosé 2012 in this handsome looking bottle. But not only does it look good but it tastes great and has attracted reviews in Australia and internationally. From one of the handful of cru classé producers in Provence. It is excellent value at
$29.90.
We are awaiting the arrival of the 2012 vintage (expected November 20) we are taking pre-orders by phone or on-line and taking 15% off as a pre-arrival offer = $25.40 !!Our best selling wine for 2012 was
Chateau La Rayre Rosé. As suggested by the darker colour, this is a richer style than the Domaine de la Croix. It has "converted" many customers to the wonders of dry rosé. Excellent with pre-dinner nibbles, noodles, curries, bbq or just on its own. A new vintage 2012 has just arrived and is flying out the door. Great price
$24.90One other new wine has arrived this month...
Chateau de la Bouyere Bordeaux Blanc 2012. A blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc. Crisp fruit and lovely soft mouth feel, excellent length and balance. Again one of our best sellers last summer $22.50.
Reviews2 wines reviewed this month:
Legende de la Tour Carnet 2004 $48
Reviewed by Regan Drew in Vinonotebook October 2013 :"Showing the petticoats under the frock, there’s complex secondary aromas of older leather and tobacco and meat shadowing the black fruits, violets, tomato leaf and tobacco. The palate still long and exquisite. Class. Olives and blackcurrants and savoury lift given from dried herbs. Those rocks..those hot hot rocks under the vines, they’re there too, with a earthy/mineral quality that assists in the palate length. This is a very smart wine that is smack bang at the height of its power." Region/Terroir: Haut-Médoc Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (10%).
Chateau Haut-Peyrous Retour de Palombières-AOC Graves-Rouge $38.50
Regan Drew in Vinonotebook October 2014: "Smells like Bordeaux. Tobacco and sweet ripe black and red fruits. Chary pencil ash, more tobacco and a slight meaty pong. Love the dusty, savoury tannins that give textural grip. Palate Bordeaux class, savoury black olive and blackcurrants and plums. Beautifully weighted on the palate and finishing medium to long that suggests it could handle a little more time in the cellar. Good value Bordeaux from Graves!" Region/Terroir: Graves Grapes: Merlot (65%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and small amount Petit Verdot and Malbec
2 of our wines received excellent reviews last month:

Producteurs Plaimont St Albert 2009 dessert wine - also 92 points and best import from Huon Hooke.
