Pomerol
“It’s richer than any red wine has a right to be,…Wow! No wonder it’s expensive” Oz Clarke
Pomerol is a small, but distinctive and prestigious appellation where Merlot dominates. Part of Saint Émilion until 1936, Pomerol is situated on a plateau of clay, terraced down to the Dordogne River.
Pomerol's wines are marvelously velvety and fruity in their youth, before evolving into noble tertiary tones such as grilled almonds and black truffles. The wines can be enjoyed young as the tannins are supple, but age well for 5 – 10 years or more.
