Listrac Medoc
The vineyards of Listrac-Médoc, planted on a gentle clay-limestone rise are at 40m, on the highest land in the Médoc. Listrac is the Médoc appellation furtherest from the Gironde estuary and therefore its wines are not as highly rated as others. One can also find many interesting independent growers who produce excellent wines at moderate prices. Thanks to an excellent natural drainage and to the relative freshness coming from the nearby pine forest, the Listrac Medoc's vine's grapes mature slowly and regularly within this area.
Listrac wines are characterized as being tannic medium-bodied reds with black currant and liquorices flavours. Full bodied and powerful in their youth Listrac wines become more velvety and fleshy after 5-10 years.
