Pauillac is an appellation on a narrow strip of land stretching out from the   mid-size port town of Pauillac on the Gironde.  Wines from neighbouring appellations were exported to the world from the commercial port at Pauillac. It is home to three of the five first growth properties identified in the 1855 classification- the famous Châteaux of Lafite, Latour and Mouton-Rothschild.

Deep gravel soils, providing excellent drainage, define the terroir of Pauillac. Pauillac is Cabernet Sauvignon country.

Intense black currant fruit flavours and cedar wood perfume are the hallmarks of classic Pauillac. The wines are full-blown, fruity and complex, beautifully balanced with an incomparable tannin structure. Pauillac wines need cellaring so the tannins of youth can mellow, allow between 10 and 20 years for the wine to peak.
