More than any other Médoc commune, Margaux and its wines are the stuff of dreams” Oz Clark

Margaux, the most southerly of the Médoc appellations, takes in the gorgeous village of Margaux and the neighbouring communities of Cantenc, Soussans, Labarde and Arsac.

Jancis Robinson describes the wines of Margaux as combining “the deep ruby colour, structure, and concentration of any top-quality Médoc with a haunting perfume and a silkier texture than is found to the north”.

The appellation contains a variety of soil types, limestone, clay, chalk and sand with the finest wines coming from the gravelly outcrops.

Historically Margaux has always been highly regarded.  More Margaux properties were included in the 1855 classification system than from any other appellation.

Durfont-Vivens was classified as a 2nd growth in Margaux in 1855.  Vivens is the second wine from this Château.
