Monbazillac
Monbazillac, just south of the town of Bergerac, is another gorgeous village with a medieval castel set in terraced gardens
Monbazillac produces truly luscious “nectar of the gods”, wines, similar to those of Sauternes. Three grape varieties – Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle are blended into Monbazillac. Only grapes affected by Botrytis – Noble rot – are picked manually in a series of selective “tries”.
Monbazillac wines will have a rich honey colour which will deepen over time and encourage you to explore the overtones of honey, peaches and barley sugar on the nose leading to a complex, lush, rich and elegant palate.
