Product Description
This is a great example of the wines of Bordeaux and the south-west region that DiscoverVin™ is bringing down under. This vineyard sit just outside some of the more expensive classified vineyards but nevertheless produces a great wine and at a great price. It is a delicious premium merlot made with great care, harnessing generations of knowledge of the soils and climate the grape varieties and how to bring the best from these noble grape varieties. This wine represents exceptional quality and value for money
Region/Terroir: Fronsac (Commune: Saint Michel de Fronsac).
Vineyard surface area: 8 hectares (20 acres).
Soil Type: chalky clay slopes and plateaux.
Average age of vines: 35 years.
Grapes: 100% Merlot
Winemaking techniques: Manual picking when grapes are fully ripe.
Total de-stemming. Temperature controlled fermentation lasts about three
weeks, depending on vintage conditions. Annual production of 3000 cases.
Wine is aged in a mixture of old and new oak casks.
Consultant oenologists: Michel ROLLAND and Christian VEYRY.
Our tasting notes: Lifted, pronounced nose of red fruits with some toasty notes. On the palate lovely rich complex red fruits, some caramel, long, and well balanced. Great structure. A beautiful merlot.
